Wojtek, when did you first discover about the SM music ? |

Well, to be completely honest, I really discovered their music when I started with Single Minds and when I needed to analyse the songs. Of course, I knew their hit songs like Dont U, Alive&Kicking… or Belfast Child, but actually I was listening to other genres of music, let’s say … heavier kinds of music. |

What did you like about Simple Minds ? |

What really surprised me is that I end up playing music that I did not know or did not play yet until a couple of months ago and I really enjoy it now.
I particularly like the atmosphere, the space of the music – the nice mix between the solid rythm section, the specific guitar sound accompanied with the keyboard parts which give that unique sound so that you recognize the group immediately. |

Which band members inspire you ? |

Since I am the bass player, I tend to listen especially to the bass parts.(laughs) I really appreciate bass player Eddy Duffy (now Ged Grimes). I like his way of solid playing, his look on scene which you can compare to mine as well (laughs)
Thanks to him, I started playing with a plectrum which I never did before and I really like it, more and more, you can put much more power into your riffs.
I also appreciate the basslines of one the previous bass player Derek Forbes, which seemed at first sometimes peculiar, if not to say exotic. |

Which are your favorite songs ? |

That changes constantly since I am still discovering their full repertoire. For the moment, I just started studying the bass parts and song structure of ‘Hypnotised’ and I already love this song.
‘Theme for the great cities’ is a supersong with an extraordinary and astonishing bassline. I am still evolving in my playing and I really hope to play this one completely right and as it should be one day.
‘Stay visible’ is a very nice song, especially to play live

Which instrument would like to obtain ? |

I am constantly on the lookout for a bassguitar which suits me best. I do a lot of buying, selling, exchanging…
I would love to have a real Fender Jazz Bass. I have an asian model for the moment, which is not bad, but one day, I would like to have a real vintage USA model.
I love vintage instruments : I own an Ibanez Roadstar ’83. I a bit of a luthier and I like to work on instruments, so I bought an Ibanez Blazer ’82 and for the moment I am fixing it up and customising. |

What was your best Simple Minds concert ? |

Up till now, I did not have the pleasure to see them live on stage, but as I am a fledgeling fan of SM, I really need to do that as soon as possible, also for ‘professional reasons’ (laughs) |
